How Often Does My Cat Need to See a Vet?

Even though your cat isn’t sick, he/she still will benefit from a routine examination by a veterinarian:

As a kitten, there are three times in its first year it should see a veterinarian, each time receiving a recommended vaccination for upper respiratory and distemper, and one rabies vaccination after 12 weeks of age.  Vaccinations should be boosted one year later.

As an adult, ages 1 through 8 years, a cat should come in annually, and if vaccinations are required, receive them at that time along with a physical examination.

As a mature and senior cat, these visits should take place twice a year, with necessary  Senior Blood Chemistry panels.

Keep in mind that Pennsylvania state law requires that all cats, indoor or outdoor, must be vaccinated against rabies.
